Soprano notes 11/14
Good evening, sopranos!
First, a note: I snagged the sanctuary again for next week (provided the
Church isn't using it); I'd like to work on Magnificat and a few other things
with anyone who can make it there at 7 pm that night.
Also, great job to those who tried out for the soprano solo. You all
sounded lovely. If Fred hasn't notified the soprano who will be singing this, I
imagine he will tell us on Tuesday.
Only three more rehearsals until performance! And don't forget we received
two more pieces on Tuesday: Joy to the World and A v Jerusalime
Notes:
Joy to the World:
Descant - space and accents
SIIs - p. 203, 4th measure - dotted eighth note on "wonders"; don't follow
SI
Schutz:
more phrase shaping
m89 - not so marcato
m122 - darker sound
Zwei Psalmen:
Rehearsal 3 - Octave As; easy in theory, but sort of hard to hear the
middle A amidst the rest of the notes shape the phrases in each measure
Liljestrand
Part II - no vibrato (or less vibrato) in the last measure; lets try for a
clear, pure sound in this piece
Gretchaninov:
m19 - more rounded sound
Tcherepnin:
need darker sound; Alleluias should be pronounced in the Russian way, so
make a darker "lu" sound

Hi, man! I'm completely acclaim that way of assumption and everything connected.
