Christ Church annual quilt raffle

Quilt Raffle.  Once again, Christ Church + Community Quilters are producing a one-of-a-kind quilt, to be raffled at the St. Nicholas dinner, December 2.  Proceeds support outreach activities on the Hill.  Marian Connolly has raffle tickets.  ($1 each; book of 6 for $5. You do not have to be present to win.)  PLEASE CONSIDER PURCHASING TICKETS.   Christ Church has donated the use of the parish hall for the Chorale's Spaghetti Dinners and its members attend our concerts in large numbers.  More recently, the church made the upstairs rooms available for assembling our Fundraising appeal mailing, again at no cost.  This is the 22nd year that the group has produced a custom, hand-made quilt.  A description of the quilt follows:

*Kabuki Dreams*--The 2006 Christ Church+Capitol Hill Community Quilt

Appliquéd oriental designs float on a geometrical pattern of yellow-gold,  forest green,  teal, mauve and purple squares, each edged in black.  Shibori accent squares and inner border compliment the appliquéd Japanese designs and striped fan print backing. Black binding and outer border of random width stripes and fan corner insets provide coordinated contrast. Queen size, approximately 87 inches by 94 inches.

All cotton fabrics with a light loft cotton batting.  Hand and machine pieced and hand quilted. Raffle tickets are 6 for $5. All proceeds will support a Christ Church outreach activity. The drawing will be December 2nd at the St Nicholas Day dinner.

(The CC+CHC quilters began making an annual quilt in 1984. Quilters meet Monday nights at 8:30 in the upper room of the Christ Church parish hall (620 G St SE).  The quilters are not only members of Christ Church but also include members of Capitol Hill Presbyterian, St. Marks Episcopal, St. James Episcopal, and church neighbors.  If interested in joining the quilting group contact Linda Mellgren (202-547-1839), Andrea Harles ( 547-3288) or the Christ Church Office (547-9300).
