Washington Women's Chorus is headed to New Zealand. Wanna go?
Join the Washington Women’s Chorus in New Zealand!
Next summer, the Washington Women’s Chorus will be traveling to New Zealand, and we are looking for fellow sopranos and altos (and friends!) to join us. The tour is scheduled for Sunday, June 17, 2007 through Thursday, June 28, 2007 with the opportunity for extensions. Highlights of the tour include stops in Rotorua, Napier, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown. We will experience the Maori Culture, taste wines at the Mission Estate Winery, visit the most English city in New Zealand city and test our adventurous side in Queenstown, the adventure capital of New Zealand. Most importantly, we will be performing the New Zealand premiere of Hannah’s Song, commissioned by the WWC and written by New Zealander Katherine Dienes. The WWC will be joined by women from local choirs, an orchestra and soloists at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Wellington, Ms. Dienes’ home town. Hannah’s Song was given its world premiere in May 2006 at the National Presbyterian Church in Washington, DC to fabulous reviews:
