Soprano notes 2/13
Thanks to everyone who showed up to rehearsal last Tuesday (most of us
were local). It was just a tad bit treacherous out, so I hope everyone
else was safely off the roads that evening.
A couple of non-music notes first. ACS has offered to host a joint rehearsal with us on February 24th, most likely in the morning, since we haven't been able to get together as often as we planned. Also, as a reminder, we will be travelling to Alexandria this coming Tuesday. I don't recall the name and address of the church offhand, but all the information can be found at http://notes.capitolhillchorale.org.
Rachmaninoff No. 12 has been cut.
So....
Rachmaninoff No. 10:
- m11, breath at end of measure
- m12, breath at end of measure
- m22, even though the basses will sound quite overwhelming with the addition of Vladimir, we still need to sing with technique.
- m21, this will slow down more
- m30, decresc after Fred starts conducting again
- m9-10, cresc, decresc needs to be more beautiful
No. 5:
- m28-33, keep the "bell" feel, stay pp
- m23, hit softer and cresc out; don't be afraid of it (even though we're very exposed here)
- m24-25, no break
- m28-33, don't push the tempo
No. 4:
- m20, half notes will probably be a little out of tempo, so watch Fred closely here
- m24, very nice swelling sound
- m52 cresc to mp
- m62-63, going right on, no slow down, but with a lift
No. 1:
- m9, descresc, no break
- m20, end will be mp
- cresc thru dotted eighths as a general rule.
