Thank you from Lee Harp
It’s Tuesday again--rehearsal night. So, an appropriate day for me to tell you what a totally fulfilling experience I had in rehearsing with you over the weeks, and performing that glorious concert with you and the Alexandria Chorale Society on March 10 and 11.
I very much appreciate the constant and warm welcome you gave me--rehearsal hall, Hawk & Dove, performance venues. And I very much admire your conscientious work and practice ethic, combined with a relaxed but concentrated rehearsal style, that resulted in a thoroughly satisfying experience for everyone, choruses and audience alike. In short, I loved being with you for the whole thing.
My group, Singing City of Philadelphia, has started rehearsals for our May concert--“An Evening with Dave Brubeck--featuring his choral work--The Gates of Justice with Dave Brubeck and His Quartet.” I mention it because the rehearsals with you of Rachmaninoff’s Vespers and Howell’s Requiem have proven to be excellent preparation for this Brubeck work--the repetitive chanting of the Vespers, and the tight (I almost said “twisted’) harmonies in the Requiem are echoed--actually amplified in the Brubeck piece. So, thanks for giving me a head start for this piece. I hope to see you all again soon.
Sincerely,
Lee Harp, Bass 1
