soprano notes 3/20
One other thing Jess L. forgot to ask in my last email is who might be
willing to host a sectional for this concert. She's thinking late April
would be good...
The notes from Tuesday:
Ave Maria (look for a recording of this by the Cambridge Singers - "Fair is the Heavens")
- let's restrain the vibrato for all these pieces
- m41 and 50, finding the B natural
- don't pay too strict attention to the dynamic markings, go with the line of the music
- slight cresc thru tied notes, especially over the bar lines
- m72, no ritard
- treat half notes as tied notes, so pull through those, espec. when sandwiched between quarters
- m71, reiterate the A, slight lift between each
- keep the "a" in "amen" forward
- gra"tsi"a (gratia)
- m43, don't close off on "ven"tris, sing on the vowel
- m40, cross out accent
- "fructus ventris" - hair pins (m42,m51)
- m59, starts a cresc to m69
Jauchzet dem Herren
- m37, C natural
- m34-35, cresc thru E
- m68, back in 3
- m120, G natural, minor chord, but accompaniment is playing a G# the beat before
- m142, more connected eighths
- m87, don't close off on "freundlich"
Lauda Sion
- pull through the ties across the bar
- m30, study this rhythm
