Alto notes 3/27

March 27th Alto Sectional notes CHC

For Adrianne and Laura

Get ready for a memorable alto singing experience! In ten weeks we will have mastered Ancient /Madrigal music while singing with Carmina under the masterful direction of Vera Kochanowsky.

Please take the time welcome our three new altos: Sarah, Rachael & Katy- all Alto 2s! All three of you will need to purchase the sight reading books. I’ll let Kristin know. For those who missed last nite (Adrianne and Laura), I have replacement sheets for the Lauda Sion (2 pages.)

We have a tie for the most tickets sold for the last concert: Congratulations to Amy and to Laura Salisbury who win a set of Russian Matrioska dolls from ken’s Church- St. Nicholas!

Altos will have sectionals every Tuesday prior to rehearsal in the side room of Reformation starting at 7:00 pm.- we will drill passages. By getting to rehearsal early we get out of setting up the chairs! Whenever you arrive, go directly to the side room and join in the drill.

A much longer Sunday rehearsal will be at Marian Connolly’s house on 8th St, SE 3:30-5:00 pm. TBA

Mark Calendars for Saturday sing rehearsal this Saturday, March 31st at Lutheran Church (where we normally rehearse) from 12 noon (lunch) sing from 1-3, cake & cookies break and then sing from 4-5. This is a great overview of the music for this concert and is counted as a rehearsal. If you can’t make it, send me an email.

Reminder: Fred wants us to start bringing the sight reading books back to rehearsal.

Try to be at every rehearsal. If you don’t feel well enough to sing, just listening to the rest of the group helps, you can leave at break if you need to. Singers are required to notify Fred in case of missing rehearsals by emailing or calling section leader- just e-mail: jfoconnor@earthlink.net or call (202) 309-2975, if you are on work travel, too sick to sing, etc. Three missed absences could require spot review by Fred. Saturday sing rehearsal counts as a full rehearsal.

Only section notes will appear weekly for those who miss rehearsal. These will be posted on http://notes.capitolhillchorale.org. Visit website often for the updates for those you miss.

Other details: Sight singing book is $16 (the new folks need this) , Music is $12 and Dues are $55- financial assistance is available. Black folders are available thru Sharon which are about $20. They have black straps attached for easy holding.

Greatest thing for family and friends: $20 singing of “happy birthday” at break. YOU provide cell phone!

Spaghetti supper is scheduled for Saturday, April 28th at Christ Church G Street, SE. Get ready for a great feed and music! Sign up sheets are available for your performance debut! Send an email to parker100@aol.com if you are interested in performing for the spaghetti supper!
