Soprano section notes 3/27

Hi,

REMINDER: our retreat is this Saturday from noon-5 at Reformation. Hope to see you there!

Also, I want to try to get the sectional scheduled sooner rather than later. If anyone can host, please let me know. I'm thinking late April, but early May could work, too.

Split Choirs: For the most part, we are going to retain our traditional parts when split into two choirs. I've asked Sarah Wilson to sing SII for this concert to ensure balance. If something changes drastically over the next few weeks (like people drop out, etc), I may ask one or two more people to switch parts, but I doubt it will be needed.

Notes:

Ave Maria:
- "benedictus", remember "ctus" syllable goes together -- not "dic-tus"
- beginning of amens should be softer, but let the penultimate "amen" shine through

Lauda Sion:
- m11, B flat
- m17, go somewhere with the note, don't sit on it
- don't smack the notes (throughout the piece)
- p.7, take a close look at the rhythms and the words; tieing it all together is a little tricky
- viven"tsi"um
- m70-71, this is a C natural here, not a C#
- "pasce" - probably pronounced pa"shay", but Fred will confirm
- look at the middle section of this for words and rhythms

Jauchzet dem Herren:
- m78, B natural, not B flat

Ave Regina:
- m37, we are in 3/1, which means a whole note equals one beat; the whole notes with lines next to them are 2 beats (sorry I don't know the proper terminology for this)
- m64, D to G seems to be a tricky interval

That's all. See you Saturday!

Jessica
