The Bach Sinfonia concludes its 12th season under the direction of Daniel Abraham with a concert featuring Jacqueline Horner, soprano, of the Grammy Award-winning women’s vocal ensemble Anonymous 4. This varied program features works by four baroque masters—Telemann, Bach, Handel and Pachelbel—and will take place on Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. at Woodside United Methodist Church, 8900 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland

Possessing a voice described as “a wonder of unadorned beauty” (Boston Globe), Horner joins the Sinfonia for a rare solo performance to include Handel’s beautiful pastorale cantata Pensieri notturni di Filli. Horner will be joined by Baroque trumpeter Stanley Curtis for Bach’s rousing Canata Jauchezt Gott in allen Landen. Curtis will also be featured in Telemann's Concerto for Trumpet in D Major and Sinfonia will feature concertmaster Wendy Harton Benner, playing Bach's Violin Concerto in E, plus a period instrument performance of Pachelbel’s famed Canon and Gigue in D Major. It was written by Pachelbel around 1680, the work’s distinguished and familiar chord progression, has become one of the most popular in music today.
